Celebrating Cybersecurity Month in Our New Home, Singapore!

October 1, 2025

Welcoming our new hub for the APAC region in Singapore

As our business grows, so does our journey. We’ve spread our wings and found our second home in Singapore, our hub for the APAC region.

Singapore isn’t just a city, it’s a thriving powerhouse of innovation. Ranked 4th as best global startup ecosystem worldwide, it’s home to more than 3,000 tech startups. Singapore also leads the world in AI readiness setting the stage for groundbreaking advancements.

FEHA officially in Singapore

But with growth comes new challenges. The digital landscape brings both opportunities and threats. Recognizing this, the Singapore government has stepped up with strong frameworks to support SMEs in adopting best practices for cybersecurity.

This October, we’re shining the spotlight on one of these frameworks: Cyber Essentials Singapore from CSA Singapore.

Join us as we dive into what it is, when it matters most, and how to bring it into practice!

Cyber Essentials

Singapore has introduced tiered cybersecurity standards to support businesses of all sizes on their digital journey. At the entry level, the Cyber Essentials Singapore provides baseline controls to defend against common, non-targeted cyberattacks.

Designed for businesses with limited IT or cybersecurity resources like SMEs, Cyber Essentials applies the 80/20 principle and helps prioritize essential cybersecurity measures to protect against common, non-targeted attacks. With the 2025 update, it also extends coverage to digital technologies like Cloud, OT, and AI.

Beyond classical cybersecurity, the Cyber Essentials is both a practical guide to cyber hygiene and a badge of recognition for businesses that take security seriously.

What's Inside?

Cyber Essentials focuses on five areas that every business should put in place. These essentials offer a practical framework to strengthen cyber hygiene, protect against common threats, and build resilience. Here are the five keys of Cyber Essentials:

Assets

  • People: Turn employees into your first line of defense.
  • Hardware & Software: Know your hardware and software, then keep them safe.
  • Data: Identify, locate, and secure the data that keeps your business running.

Secure / Protect

  • Virus & Malware Protection: Block viruses, malware, and other nasties.
  • Access Control: Control who gets access to your systems and data.
  • Secure Configuration: Use secure configurations for every device and app.

Update

  • Software Updates: Keep software and systems updated, no delays.

Backup

  • Essential Data: Back up critical data and store copies safely, even offline.

Respond

  • Incident Response: Detect, respond to, and bounce back fast from any cyber incident.

What do you usually need to have?

To do this, businesses typically need to prepare and submit several key documents, including:

  • Scoping statement
  • Businesses chart showing the business unit(s) within the certification scope
  • Description of the businesses' for context (e.g., products/services offered, customer profile, and the industry or sector served)
  • System and network diagram
  • Inventory of devices and systems
  • Inventory of software and services
  • List of operational locations relevant to the certification scope
  • Completed self-assessment template
